Some of you may or may not have heard about the flooding in Thailand. Right now, parts of Bangkok has been flooded, the city is bracing for worse. The town of Ayutthaya, has been flooded for a few weeks now and the elephants there are in need of your help.
They are still anticipating the waters for the next 2-4 weeks and then the major clean up. Many have lost all of their earthly possessions. But the good news is that everyone survived and even a baby elephant was born!
A friend of mine, an amazing artist and animator, by the name of Millie has been keeping me up to date on the conditions. She has informed me that they will need help replacing basic necessities: such as pots, pans, bedding, clothing, etc as they are all gone.
They won’t know the condition of their homes and the elephants’ homes until the water has receded. It is hard boating and trucking in trucks of food for the elephants as well as the people.
CNN had a video of Peter, one of the many amazing painting elephants at the sanctuary in Ayutthaya, and his mahout. You can go here and see how high the flood waters are in Ayutthaya. Also, a blogger has been posting photos here.
Right now, Millie is brainstorming on how she can help raise money for the sanctuary as well as the caretakers and their families. If you have any ideas or would like to help, please give me a shout. I would love to hear from you.
