ep: Could you please describe your creative process?

My creative process is surprisingly very methodical. I suppose it’s partially influenced by my science background. It starts with processing the task, doing as much research as possible and then coming up with that “big idea.”

ep:What is your favorite piece you created and why is this your favorite ?

My favorite piece is actually a tribal tattoo that I designed. I created it to symbolize the bond that I have with my twin sister. Before she moved away for grad school, we both got the tattoo. Everytime I see it, I think of her.

ep: If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give to yourself 5 years ago?

Wow, where do I start? Probably to realize how valuable knowledge is and where it can take you. In any field, the more skills you have the better.

ep: Apart from designing, what do you like to do?

Hmmm I recently got back into cooking and baking. Only problem with that is that I’m eating too many goodies these days! I also enjoy going to lectures, especially on science. I still haven’t lost my interest in science.

ep: How did you start out as a designer and what kept you going?

Well, I grew up around art and design. My dad used to own a graphic design studio in the 80s. Before I even started school, he’d take my sister and I to his office and we’d sit there and draw all day.

ep: What inspires you/where do you find your inspirations?

What doesn’t inspire me. You just have to keep your eyes and ears open. The city is full of quirky things that stimulate the mind, at least my mind haha. I also have pretty crazy and creative dreams which I try to tap into for inspiration.

ep: Coffee or tea?

Coffee is a must in the morning. At night, it’s usually tea.

ep: What is your comfort food?

Ooh comfort food. If I had to pick just one, it would fresh Belgian waffles drizzled with butter and syrup. Great, now I really want some waffles!

ep: Do you have a favorite quote, what is it and why is it your favorite?

You know, I’m still working on that one. I haven’t found a quote that speaks to me just yet. I’ll have to get back to you on that.
